Our Awareness Course

PCBU’s now have a legal responsibility (HSAW Act s36(3)(f) and HSAW Regs (asbestos) s17 workers who work with asbestos receive appropriate training.  This includes those that work on <10m2 non friable ACM.

To assist you in achieving this legal requirement, APS conducts Asbestos Awareness Training courses. The course covers the background on asbestos, health effects, locations, and steps to take should you have an emergency or be exposed to asbestos. This course is beneficial to anyone who may encounter asbestos, including building and construction workers, plumbers, electricians, painters, and plasterers.

The course provides face-to-face interaction with our qualified instructor with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Courses are usually 3-4 hours long and can be held at your premises or our Christchurch facility.

If you are looking to educate/train your employees on the basics of asbestos awareness, then contact our experienced (25 years) in-house trainer who will provide your staff with an informative session on asbestos and their obligations to ensure they and their work colleagues are safe when working around asbestos materials. APS can offer individual and group sessions and can come to your workplace or to our classroom.

The syllabus is based on WorkSafe NZ guidelines.
