Description:
This was a commercial property in the inner city of Christchurch that was built in 1933 and was having major renovations done to it to make way for a trendy upmarket office and retail space. The client required us to remove all the asbestos before their builders could get on site and before renovations could begin.
Method:
Work was carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements and 2 negative air units were used to create a negative air environment in the enclosure and Hepa filter vacuums were used.
A 3-bay modular decontamination unit with Shower and waste management system was in place to ensure and enable staff to thoroughly clean and decontaminate themselves after leaving the enclosure.
Throughout the project independent assessors conducted clearances that included background air monitoring, swabs, final air tests and final visuals.
Conclusion:
To have an asbestos free property for contractors to be able to start renovations.
