Asbestos Gasket Removal

16 December 2020

Location: Christchurch

Duration: 1/2 day

Type: Chrysotile gaskets

Amount: 1m2

Method:
Unusual types of removal require thinking outside the box.  In this case, asbestos bitumen material gaskets were found around the edge joins of a boiler that had been dumped as recyclable waste. All the holes were sealed from the inside and the ends enclosed so that the materials could be removed without fiber release into the atmosphere. A negative pressure system was employed to maintain negative atmosphere within the containment pods.

As the area was a working commercial site. Barrier tape, signs and an outside supervisor kept a close eye on pedestrians & traffic.

Conclusion:

On completion all surfaces were checked by an independent assessor company. A full clearance was issued.
